Fleet Driver Training!

Driving For Work

Are you a Fleet Manager, HR Manager, Company Director or a Business Owner? Do you have more than 5 employees that drive as part of their job? If so, under Health and Safety legislation and the Corporate Manslaughter Act you may become liable if a road traffic accident occurs involving one of your employees.

HSE guidelines - Driving at work

GEM Driver Training can help. We can provide Driver Risk Assessments to grade your drivers as Low, Medium or High risk. We can provide the necessary training to improve your employees driving skill to limit their chances of being involved in a road traffic accident and provide you with a driving report.

We offer this service for several reasons. As an employer you have a ‘Duty of Care’ to ensure that any identified risk is managed and reduced to an acceptable level. If a risk is not managed correctly this is where you may become liable for prosecution unless you take vital steps to ensure the safety of your workers.

We find that participants of our courses develop their driving skills in several key areas that will benefit your business:

Fuel saving

On average we see improvement of 15% saving in fuel cost after attending one of our Eco- Driving courses.

Insurance cost

Our clients report far less ‘minor incidents’ from car park bumps and with the Advanced On Road Training we significantly reduce their chances of being involved in a serious accident. This will save you money on repairs and expensive insurance excess costs.

Injury / Sick pay

If a member of your organisation has to take time off work for a road traffic accident, how will this affect the daily running of your business? Would you have to pay sick pay? Compensation? Treatment? Train a new member of staff to cover the job role? All this will cost you time and money.

Safer Stress Free

Your employees will enjoy our driving courses and will benefit from the Advanced Skills that we teach to keep them safe and stress free.

So as a member of the Senior Management, ask yourself these questions:

  • How safe are your drivers?
  • What training have they received?
  • Are they at risk of injury?
  • Are you at risk of prosecution?

Statistic from the Department for Transport (2011) state that there were 203,950 casualties reported and 1,901 road deaths. It is also reported from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) that around a third of these statistics are people driving for work. This equates to 12 deaths a week for company car drivers.
